FAQs

What is the Pollinators for Texas Initiative?

The Pollinators for Texas Initiative is an ongoing collaborative partnership between Texas Master Naturalist and HEB aimed at enhancing native pollinator conservation across Texas through funding community-based habitat projects and educational outreach programs.

How much funding is available for TMN chapters?

Chapters can apply for financial awards of up to $4,000 to support various initiatives.

Who can apply for the financial awards?

All Texas Master Naturalist chapters in good standing are eligible to apply for the financial awards to fund their local pollinator conservation initiatives after receiving approval from their local chapter board.

Do we have to provide a Tax ID?

Yes, a Tax ID is required for the W-9 form. If your chapter instead, has a TIN/EIN this can also be provided but is not required. Please reach out to your chapter board, they may be able to help you attain this information. For resources, you can access the IRS website for more information using the link below:

No, your chapter does not have be a 501C3 organization.

Are there any restrictions on the budget allocation for project expenses?

Money received from this project cannot go towards advertising, individuals, transportation, political events or fundraisers of any kind.

If awarded, how/when will funds be received?

Chapters receiving project awards will be notified in early August. At this time, a request for funds to be dispersed to all award recipients will be submitted through our business office, with these expected to be received within 2-4 weeks from the date of notification. Please note that while we aim to have project funding to all Chapters by September, the processing time for financial awards can vary dependent on external factors.

Can chapters collaborate with other organizations outside of TMN?

Yes! It is important to keep in mind that financial awards will only be allocated to chapters, however, TMN and H-E-B strongly encourage partnerships amongst outside entities as well as neighboring chapters, as these increase the scale of the Initiative’s impact.

Is there a minimum size (Acreage or Sq. Footage) on habitat projects?

No, there is no minimum size requirement. All habitat projects are welcome, regardless of their scale. Each project brings unique opportunities and characteristics that contribute to its overall impact. Be sure to highlight what makes your chapter’s habitat project distinct and meaningful.

Can chapters submit multiple applications?

TMN Chapters are welcome to submit multiple project applications, however we ask that Chapters do not submit more than two entries. This is both to be conscious of the workload on volunteer our judge panel, and also to ensure that your resources and efforts this application cycle are consolidated to craft a stronger application package!
