Permian Fest

February 24 - February 26

The Rolling Plains Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist is a partner with Whiteside Museum of Natural History.  We want to encourage naturalists across Texas to come to Seymour for a special event. See below:

Texas Paleontology Event coming in FEBRUARY 2023!

Have you ever wanted to be a Paleontologist?  Would you like to participate in an active dig site from the Permian period?  This is your opportunity to do just that!

The Whiteside Museum of Natural History is hosting PERMIAN FEST!

Baylor County, Texas is the BEST place in the world to find fossils from the Permian period from about 290 million years ago and now you can learn the history of this area, be trained on an active dig site, and take part in lectures from famous paleontologists such as Dr. Robert Bakker!

This event will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for participants to walk in the footsteps of early fossil hunters on Texas soil!

There are limited spots available so start planning your adventure to Seymour, TX now!

There is a fee for various events, but the money raised will help to provide educational opportunities and benefit the longevity of the museum.
